I was just thinking about how I need to commit to reading for pleasure on a regular basis. I used to be a voracious reader and it was something I loved to do. I love the excitement of cracking open the spine of a new book, or smelling the wrinkled pages of an old book. Curling up and getting lost in a story is an experience unlike any other.

With that being said, I haven’t been very good at keeping up with my usual pace of devouring reading material. I don’t know if it that the craziness of adult life caught up with me, or that I am really proficient at conjuring up other distractions, but my lack of reading needs to change.

I’m in desperate need of suggestions for good books. Requirements include:
1. Must catch my attention in 50 pages or less
2. Period novels are appreciated
3. I generally shy away from sic-fi and romance but would be open if there is a *can’t miss* selection
4. I love memoirs
5. Anything having to do with addiction/psychology/psychopathology/criminals is a sure bet

I know one thing that would make my commitment to reading a bit easier… a gorgeous reading nook.
